Due to the great application on self-cleaning, lossless transmission, anti-frosting, and anti-drag, the fabrication of super-hydrophobic surfaces attracts much attention. Super-hydrophobic surface is the one whose contact angle is greater than 150° and roll-off angle is less than 10°. There are two easy way to improve the super-hydrophobicity:(1) to increase the surface roughness, and(2) to decrease the surface energy. Many techniques were developed to fabricate super-hydrophobic surfaces. However, in terms of commercialization, most of them were useless due to high cost, complicated processing, difficulty to mass production and poor wear resistance. Therefore, to develop cost-effective, simple, easy to mass production and good wear-resisting techniques for the fabrication of super-hydrophobic surface is a key point on the study of super-hydrophobicity.In this thesis, simple, cost-effective techniques to make super-hydrophobic surface were developed and studied. Including:1. Bionic Berberisthunbergii super-hydrophobic surface structures were fabricated. They showed even better super-hydrophobicity than the fresh Berberisthunbergii leaves. The contact angle on the bionic surface was 153° and the rolling angle was only 3°.2. Transparent and super-hydrophobic glass was successfully fabricated by using carbon black as template, chemical vapor deposition(CVD), annealing, low surface energy modification. The technique has potential application for mass production.3. To solve the problem of poor wear resistance of super-hydrophobic glass, we add a buffer layer on the glass by sol-gel method before the preparation of super-hydrophobic coating.
