On The Cultural Inheritance Of City Park In The Process Of Reconstruction

Old city park is a carrier of a city’s historical culture and humanistic culture which shows the unique regional customs, traditional spirit and people’s mental outlook of a city. With the development of the city, the cultural venation of many cities can’t be shown to the public because of social, economic, cultural, technical factors at the initial period of building, or fade away because of lacking management for a long time and sense of rebuilding. The "New Construction Concentration, Maintenance Deconcentration " policy in former phase is a heavy blow for the park development by which a lot of cultural old city parks are rebuilt.With the development of society, people realize th importance of historic culture for a city’s development. "Reconstructing Old City Parks, Inheriting Regional Culture" policy ,replacing "New Construction of City Parks", becomes the key point of the city park construction. The cultural inheritance of old city parks is different from the cultural shaping of city parks. In a great extent, it is restricted by the original cultural connotation, landscape features, styles and will possibly break the historical and cultural landscape. Many cases of reconstructed parks with cultural inheritance in space and time are involved in this research. The theoretical bases are Sustainable Development Theory in the Protection of Cultural Heritage, Contextualism Theory and Organic Renewal Theory, etc.. The cultural inheritance model of city park reconstruction and concrete measures are as conclusions. The cultural inheritance model includes two levels. One is balancing multi-cultural space and coordinating city parks with their surrounding environment. The other one is re-improving independent cultural space which includes two models. One is keeping both the new and the old, the other one is renewing spacial culture organically.The concrete measures are divided into three steps. The first step is the maintenance of cultural symbols which includes hard landscape symbols (like landscaping buildings, landscape sketches, paths, pavements, etc.) and soft landscape symbols (like plants, water, etc.). The second step is extending cultural space renewal. The final step is inheriting the memories of folk activities. According to the participation of the "Yanzhenqing Park Reconstruction Projecf’led by Professor Zhang and other professors in school, this dissertation makes a detailed analysis of the cultural inheriting design theory and the overall adaptive design of Yanzhenqing Park in order to get a feedback from the practice, supplements the design and also systemizes the cultural inheritance model of city park reconstruction and concrete measures.On the basis of literature review, case study and practice, this dissertation intends to deeply analyze the problems in cultural inheritance of city park reconstruction and finds out the reasons in order to make an effective cultural inheritance model for this kind of park. further more, to strengthen people’s realization about the importance of cultural inheritance of city park and then to make a better cultural inheritance of city park.
