New Chinese-style Landscape Application In Cold Residential Area

Under the situation of domestic real estate landscape gradually get rid of completely westernized and traditional culture recovery, there are higher requirements for the modern living environment and cultural connotation. New Chinese-style landscape uses modern design method and materials to reshape the Chinese classical gardens. It will add luster to the modern landscape design in China among today’s diverse design styles. However, the cold city is affected by climate conditions and other restrictions, landscape design is facing all kinds of challenges.The study scope is the cold cities in China, the study object is the residential landscape. There are three major problems discussed in this paper, which are to create the residential landscape with local characteristics, to carry on and develop Chinese classical gardens, and to create modern living environment in cold cities. The aim is to meet the needs of aesthetic, living, searching for Chinese’s roots, to show cultural characteristics in cold areas and to carry forward Chinese garden culture. And at the same time, to provide theoretical support and reference for design practice on new Chinese-style landscape application in cold residential areas.The study method integrated excellent foreign modern landscape design theory, modern materials and technology, the regional research of cold city, micro climate and ecology, environment psychology, modern color theory etc. Several aspects are studied as the theory foundation, such as the interpretation of the new Chinese-style landscape design in residential area, the design of traditional northern gardens, the comparisons of design theory, technique, material etc. from domestic and foreign, classic and modern, to the cold city people’s living habits. Combined with regional features and modern design methods, thus to summarizethe application strategies on new Chinese-style landscape design in the cold residential area.In this paper, three comprehensive aspects are highly concerned w hich are the essence of traditional northern gardens, the cold city regional characteristics and the habitat requirements. First, landscape elements in residential area such as water plants, paving, lighting and color are analysed in detail. Participation in the landscape, regional culture, ecological system and sensory experience etc. are put forward as design principle and method. Second, the specific residential landscape application strategy in the cold area is discussed based on the new Chinese-style design, including gardening skill, symbol modeling, space layout, materials and techniques, plant arrangements, color selection, and the fengshui culture. Finally, the challenge and the development trend of new Chinese-style landscape design in winter city is discussed according to the actual situation.
