The earthquake frequently takes place in our country, causing the huge disaster to people. As an important part of the lifeline project.the bridge should be strengthened relating to its seismic capacity. It is essential to the life rescue and transport of supplies.Piers are the major component of the bridge resisting the lateral force.Under earthquake, Horizontal seismic force plays a major role in the upper part of the pier, and passes down through the pier. Piers supporting the bridge accept the axial load. Therefore bridge piers are easy to damage. Tt is necessary to enhance seismic performance of the piers in order to keep a bridge stable in an earthquake.Through FRP materials research, it has been found that FRP used in reinforced concrete structures reinforcement would have greatly improved seismic performance of the structure. Taking its lightweight, high strength, corrosion-resistant properties into account, it is a good choice to use FRP to improve the seismic performance of piers. As an open Earthquake Engineering Simulation Laboratory, the Opensees can exactly simulate earthquake and analyze structural response. Then there are rich material models and a good nonlinear numerical simulation accuracy in the software. So this paper uses the Opensees to analyze the seismic performance of bridge piers confined by FRP.The main research contents are as follows:(1) This paper summarizes the domestic and foreign research status on the constitutive relationship of FRP constraints concrete. Then select the appropriate constitutive models.(2) It applies the cyclic load on piers wrapped differently by FRP and analyzes hysteretic behavior via the Opensees. After comparative study of each hysteresis curve, we can conclude the impact on hysteretic behavior of the pier. Through the hysteretic curves research on piers wrapped by different layers FRP, Relationships between seismic performance of piers and FRP thickness expects to be found.(3) Through the pushover analysis to piers wrapped by different layers FRP, we can evalue the seismic performance of RC structures. Even further study the impact of FRP thickness to the seismic performance of the piers.
