As AIS (Automatic Identification System) are widely used in the shipping industry, the technical development of AIS and its broadly application prospects have attached widely attention. The main functions of AIS are ship automatic identification, ship tracking, ship navigation, ship information exchange, ship collision, etc. AIS hava become the important navigational tools for ship safeguard and information management. IMO MSC 69 meeting adopt new design standards of AIS in 1998. The AIS manufacturers are also upgrade the old equipmentin accordance with the new standard of IMO and ITU. Because of the application and load of AIS increasing, AIS equipment is derived for two kinds according to the different requirements, namely, class A and class B.Based on the analysis of AIS technology standard and its research status at home and abroad, the AIS receiver RF front-end circuits’ design and implementation are studied. The key modules of RF receiving circuits are designed and simulated.The main contributions of this paper aresummarized as follows:(1) The technology indexes of AIS receiver RF front-end circuits are analyzed. The main indexes include noise coefficient, sensitivity, image rejection and IF suppression, etc. According to AIS receiver technology index, the design scheme and feasibility of the system are demonstrated.(2) The RF front-end circuits of AIS receiver is simulated and implemented. After reviewing the related literature, the RF front-end circuits of this paper use the secondary conversion super heterodyne receiver. The simulation softwares are used to simulate the low noise amplifiers, mixers, filters of AIS receiver circuits. According to the ADS simulation data of receiving circuits, AIS receiver IF receiving circuits is designed which satisfied the technology indexes at first.(3) The AIS receiver hardware is completed and debugged. According to the design’s simulation analysis and technical indexes, the modlues of receiver circuits are debugged. The problems existing in the design are analyzed, looking forward to the development of AIS receiver.
