Submerged combustion vaporizer(SCV) has many advantages, including compact structure, space saving, high heat transfer efficiency, low temperature of outlet gas and energy saving. This technic can be regarded as a combustion technology with low nitrogen content because the gas is forced to get through water bath in order to decrease the content of nitric oxide, which is previously included in gas. SCV is fit for emergency gas peak shaving due to its working and economic characteristic. However, the number of researchers whose main researching field is SCV are not large, while the feature of SCV has not been studied thoroughly either. The purpose of this paper is focus on the characteristic of submerged combustion. By conducting a plot-scale experiment, the paper studies the properties of water bath and exhausted gas in SCV. Through analysis of pressure fluctuation, the optimistic function states and efficiency of SCV has been concluded.The application of SCV is introduced in the paper with the utilization status being analyzed. SCV dominates the field of submerged combustion vaporizer. The paper also confirms the parts of SCV that needs to be designed. The parameters used in the SCV design and its determination methods are introduced as well.Combined with actual situation, a series of plot-scale SCV experiments are accomplished. The mechanism and structure of experiment system is concluded through experiments. The dissertation figures out the apparatus that may be used in SCV experiment, as well as the experimental program.At the end of the paper, data collected during the experiments is analyzed. The characteristic of water bath of SCV and pressure fluctuation is concluded. Both conductivity of heat transfer and its efficiency are obtained. Besides, the dissertation also analyzes the heat loss and its proportion of SCV experiments.Through experiments and analysis, the plot-scale experiments provide experience that can probably be used in real SCV program.
