Buckling-Restrained Brace Frame (BRBF) is one type of frame-brace structure. At present, there have many applications both at home and abroad, with certain theoretical research and practice. However, so far the aseismic design methods and process of BRBFs, as well as a comparative analysis between common frames and common brace frames in high intensity areas have not yet been fully explored. With this situation, this paper carries out the following work:1. Make a brief summary about various frames and brace frames and analyze the basic principles, advantages and disadvantages of various frames and brace frames.2. Summarize the working principle, hysteretic characteristic and other characteristics of BRBFs. BRBFs can not only improve bearing capacity and structural ductility, but also protect the main structure from being seriously damaged under seismic action. The performance of BRBF members, including the performance of brace stress core boards, aseismic test results of braces and accumulative plastic deformation capacity, etc.3. Put forward a simplified design method for BRBFs systematically, including the layout principle of braces, the definition of equivalent cross-section area and the application of brace bearing capacity in design, etc. Summarize the aseismic design methods and process of BRBFs, with four types of software, PKPM, ETABS, MIDAS and MTS. Propose the design features of BRB nodes and a hysteresis model for BRBF aseismic design.4. Based on two engineering projects, compare the differences between ordinary concrete frames and BRBFs, ordinary steel frames and BRBFs, aseismic design methods and aseismic performance. Make a comprehensive analysis and comparison in scheme layout, elastic-plastic analysis, the calculation of members’ bearing capacity and the construction layout of braces, etc.
