With the integrated development of power electronic devices on the locomotive,the heat flux of power electronic devices is increasing. Power electronic devices can’t work normally under a high-temperature environment.Thus,it is necessary to have a research on the cooling technology.This paper makes a research on the water-cooled heatsink of the traction converter and makes a useful design of the water-cooled heatsink for CRH3 EMU.First of all,this paper discusses the factors which affect the power losses of the traction converter and introduces a useful method to calculate the accurate power losses.On the basis of the data which come from the traction converter when it is running,the accurate power losses is calculated.Secondly,the methods about analyzing and simulating the water-cooled heatsink is established.Three basic models which are tandem structure, parallel structure and tandem-parallel structure are built by Pro/E and they are separated into several units to simulating by ANSYS/Icepak.According to the simulation,the heat dissipation and pressure loss of the three basic models have been analyzed and contrasted.At last,a water-cooled heatsink which contains several parallel structure is designed for CRH3 EMU. The heat dissipation and pressure loss of the structure is analyzed.Besides, it is discussed in the case of different flow rates,different ambient temperatures and different water temperatures.It is proved that the water-cooled heatsink have a good cooling effect and flow Characteristics.
