The hydropower station of Chan River is located in the downstream river of Xihan River, in Jialing River, Gansu Province, which is the last hydropower station in the cascade development of Xihan River. The hydropower station’s engineering grade is IV and the small(1). The main function of the hydropower station of Chan River is electricity generation. The power station generates electricity by building dam to raise the water level and building tunnel to guide flow, in which the installed capacity is 30 MW, the design head of power is 61 m and the design flow is 58m3/s. The power station can provide the power about 112.66 million k W?h per year for the Longnan power network, to ease the pressure of the power supply quantity.There is 3 parts of main design content in the design of the hydropower station of Chan River:(1) There is hydrological data in 53 years, from 1960 to 2012, in Chan’s hydrological station, which is located the downstream river of the hydropower station of Chan River. The Chan’s hydrological station is the basic station for the design of the hydropower station of Chan River. Firstly, the empirical frequency of runoff is calculated, then using Pearson III curve to carry out the appropriate line of annual runoff’s frequency and the runoff’s frequency in dry season. The annual distribution of the runoff is designed by the representative method. The empirical frequency of peak flow is calculated, then using Pearson III curve fitting method to get the frequency curve of the peak flow. Using the method of amplifying the typical flood course line, the flood process line of different frequency flood is designed. Through the statistical data of sediment, the sediment characteristics of the hydropower station of Chan River are calculated. Tan River Hydropower Station; draw the curve of water level and flow. The curve of the water level flow curve is plotted out.(2) This paper mainly carries on the design of the gravity dam to hold the flood waters and the sluice to release the flood waters and sands. The section of the sluice includes 8 small sluices. The size of gate is 10 13.5m(width height), the maximum discharge of the flow is 6800m3/s. The application section of the upstream dam slope is a broken line and the slope of the downstream dam is inclined. In the upstream dam, the surface above the elevation of 861.00 m is vertical, the slope below 861.00 m is 1:1, and the downstream slope of the dam is 1:0.8.(3) In this paper, the value of the shear strength of the dam is calculated. The results meet the stability requirements. According to 《The design specification for sluice》(SL265-2001), the released flood discharges in different levels of the water is calculated. The stress on the inside of the gravity dam is analyzed with the finite element analysis software, ANSYS. As the results show, the structural stress is greater than the design strength of material in some section of the dam, some measures such as reinforced bar or replaced the higher strength concrete.
