Reservoir sedimentation problems for the normal operation of project, the normal functioning of the reservoir, the normal supply of the production and domestic water,the normal development of the economy and society has an important impact.Sedimentation of reservoirs has been done a lot of researches at home and abroad, but the studies of the confluence of main stream and tributaries reservoir sedimentation and rules have not been fully, the researches of the amount of silting,distribution of siltation, deposition feature are still in the form of development, the researches of water diversion and sediment prevention effect are still not mature.In this paper, using the general laws of the sediment movement,the sedimentation problems of Yalong river Tong zi lin reservoir were analyzed by physical model tests and the 2-D sediment mathematical model to explore the sedimentation laws of the confluence of main stream and tributaries,it’s has great practical significance to give reservoir function full play.The main contents and results of this paper include:①More systematic to clarified the research status of reservoir sedimentation,understood the current domestic and international developments in this field, cleared the significance of this research.②From the forces of sediment grain size, sediment start, sediment settling velocity,bed load and suspended a qualitative shift and movement of bed load and suspended sediment sludge characteristics, etc., the more elaborate the system reservoir sediment sedimentation in order to further study the dam near sinks provide a theoretical basis supporting the inflow of sedimentation of the reservoir.③The 2-D sediment mathematical model was established,calculated and analysed the reservoir sediment deposition after 20 years later, and validated with the physical model tests.④By using similarity criterion to establish Yalong river Tong zi lin hydropower station physical model, introduced the model design and modeling, validated the model’s geometrical similarity and the water surface profile similarity to verify that the model and prototype basically reached similar requirements.⑤Experimental research of Yalong river Tong zi lin reservoir was took, the amount of silting of reservoirs running for 25 years, the deposition feature, the sediment grain size distribution, the impact of the deposition on hydropower station water diversion and sediment prevention were carried out a detailed analysis.
