At present, in order to solve the three traffic problems in the city traffic system: traffic congestion, road safety, and energy crisis, each big city are invariably putting forward "the priority development of public transport, initiate in green travel" as one kind of strategic measures. Some big cities are committed to the development of railway transportation. However, no matter how railway transportation system develops advanced it cannot reach the bus level in covering area and line network developing. Because of the more complex terrain, the development of railway transportation in mountain city cannot to reach the scale of the plain city. So the routine bus bears most of the residents travel demands. However, there are many problems in the process of the mountain city public transit network design and operation. In view of this, this paper proposes a hierarchical transit network design method based on the coordination between the demand and supply of the mountain city.Firstly, this paper study the coordination between the demand and supply of the mountain city transit network. Mainly study the coordination connotation and coordination elements and coordination mechanism; and then, set up three hierarchical coordination models based on the supply and demand of mountain city transit network: micro coordination model, medium coordination model and macroscopic coordination model. And then proposes a hierarchical transit network design method based on the coordination between the demand and supply of the mountain city. Finally, this paper takes the urban area of Chongqing city as an example. Using the method to optimize the transit network and making the contrast of the results between the former and after.lThis paper proposes a hierarchical transit network design method based on the coordination between the demand and supply of the mountain city can be used to guide the mountain city transit network design. It is very important to accelerate the pace of constructing the “smart city” and “smart bus” system.
