A general rotor- bearing system, especially the gear coupling shaft is usually equipped with more than one thrust bearing, the pros and cons of its performance will directly affect the normal operation and the working life of the system.Taking the hydrodynamic lubrication ramp-flat fixed pad thrust bearing as the research object of the dissertation, the mixed cell boundary element method(BEM) was used to solve the Reynolds equation and its static and dynamic characteristics, the working performance on various structural parameters and different working conditions was studied, a set of software to analyse and calculate the characteristics of thrust bearing was designed, and a database about the static and dynamic characteristics of thrust bearing was set up. Details are as follows:First, the mathematical model such as the Reynolds equation of the hydrodynamic lubrication ramp-flat fixed pad thrust bearing, the film thickness equation and boundary conditions were given, the static and dynamic characteristics of this kind of thrust bearing were established, and the process using mixed cell boundary element method to solve them was studied in detail.Second, the influences of the structural parameters of the thrust bearing(the location of Pr,the field angle and dip angle of the pad) and operating conditions(load and speed) on its static and dynamic characteristics were studied in detail, and some useful conclusions were obtained.Third, using MFC and My SQL, a thrust bearing characteristics analysis softwarewith batch computing capacity was developed, and it was used to set up a databaseabout the rotor static and dynamic characteristic coefficients of this kind of thrustbearing, which can greatly improve the design efficiency of the thrust bearing.The research shows that the bearing can obtain a large load capacity and a small frictional power consumption coefficient and the other operation parameters have different level of effects on the performances of the thrust bearing when Pr is located in the outlet.
