With the development of the economy and the improvement of people’s living standard,the use of air-conditioners is more and more universal.The air-conditioner load is increasing faster and faster each year which leads to a result of a larger peak valley difference in summer days and a worsen load characteristic of the power system and a bigger shortage of electricity at peak times,at the same time,it threatens the stability and safety of the whole power system,so it is very meaningful to do researches on load characteristics of air-conditioner load and its effects on power system.This paper analyses the load characteristics of a certain city according to the city’s load and meteorological data in recent years,Then find out the characteristics of air-conditioning load and calculates air-conditioning load in two different ways, also analyses the correlation between air-conditioning load and some main meteorological factors.After that,choose a model that could express the behaviors of air-conditioning load in different situations very well,then the model of air-conditioning load is applied into the Power System Analysis Software Package(PSASP) to the critical nodes of the power system,compare it with the situation that the load on the critical nodes are consistant reactance.The result shows that air-conditioning load has a strong effect on power systems.
