Characteristics of oil film is the core of lubrication theory and its engineering application. Moreover, accurate judgment of the lubricating film flow is an important premise for studying the characteristics of the oil film. Because the Hybrid Bearings’ oil film thickness is small in the process of work, theoretical calculation mostly assumes that the oil film is under the laminar flow condition. However, as for step bearings with deep-shallow chambers, the oil film thickness of each part is different; especially when bearings are in high speed, different forms of the oil film flow condition including laminar, turbulent and transitional area are likely to appear, so the results by numerical calculation are quite different with the actual results. For the observation and measurement of sliding bearing oil film flow state, analysis of specific flow of the oil film area, visualization apparatus are built, the distribution and movement of bubbles in the sliding bearing are observed using the bubble tracer method, the specific flow pattern and distribution of step bearing are proved,in order to take different calculation method according to its different area of the oil film and its real flow state, moreover, modify deviation by the calculation according the single flow state, and get more accurate calculation results.In the visualization research of sliding bearing oil film flow state, process parameters of Plexiglas bush cutting directly relate to the transmittance of the specimen processing and the effect of image acquisition. By building photometric platform, the specimens of different process parameters are measured and analyzed, the transmittance change of the specimen processing under different process parameters are generalized; rational and economic process routes are summarized; the fine processing parameters are optimized.In the visualization research of sliding bearing oil-film flow state, the production of bearing shell specimen is directly related to the error of the result. Discusses the process factors which affect the quality of machining, analyzes the causes of error in machining process, and put forward error averaging solutions. Develops the specimen making process, determines the specific parameters of the process elements and improves the stability of the specimen material by using water bath aging, designs clamping rabbet flange to reduce cutting deformation, realizes the organic glass bearing shell preparation in the visualization research of sliding bearing, which provides valuable experience and data for the similar experimental study.Design plans of test device for the visualization experiment are determined through the analysis of the requirements; test parameters are formulated, visualization test of the sliding bearing oil film flow are performed, and image data are obtained. Moreover, focus on comparing changes of streamline slope of the oil film bearing area at different locations as well as changes of streamline slope when the spindle speed and the minimum radius clearance change through the analysis of the image data, which provide data support for the follow-up analysis and correction, which provide data support for the follow-up analysis and correction.This paper is part work of the National Natural Science Fund Foundation of China(Theory, experiment and application of ultra-high speed floating ring hybrid bearing lubrication under mixed patterns, Grant No. 51075373).
