Concrete gravity dam is an important type which has a long history. It has a great many merits such as simple construction, quick speed of construction, excellent adaptability to all kind of geological conditions,safer and more reliable. So concrete gravity dam is widely used in the world’s dam construction. As a massive concrete structure the block segmentation method is often used in its construction, so the dam should be divided by longitudinal and transverse joints to adapt to this construction method and the uneven settlement of foundation. It is often only set water-seal on the upstream surface of dam to treat leakage. But when it is necessary to enhance the dam’s infiltration prevention and earthquake resistance, grouting can be used to transverse joints. Based on an concrete gravity dam, this paper eatablish the 3D full-dam model and use the method of static and dynamic finite element analysis in order to study the dam’s earthquake-resistant character. The main works of this paper are as follows:1. To provide the theory for this paper, it simply introduced finite element method, the basic theory and calculation method of static and dynamic analysis, and the analysis steps of ANSYS finite element method.2.Using the software ANSYS, the 3D full-dam model was eatablished to calculate its stress and displacement under the normal water level, design water level and check water level. The calculation results show that the stress and displacement under the three condition were accord with the general rule, the check water level was a dangerous working condition, grouting of the transverse joints can dramatically enhance the safety of the dam reduce the transverse displacement.3.Two calculation models were designed on the influence of the reservoir water and the interaction with dam, the transverse joints to study the effect of transverse joints grouting on the dam’s dynamic property. The results show that: when considering the reservior water, the natural frequency of dam was reduced; grouting of the transverse joints can reduce the natural frequency of dam and decrease the stress and displacement of the dam.All the work of this paper is combined with the practical project and the research of this paper can provide practical reference to the similar project.
