With the rapid development of refrigeration technology, the use of traditional refrigerant increase brings a series of problems. This leads to the use of it is limited. This change has aroused peopleā€™s attention. Therefore, reducing the use of refrigerant or searching for the environmental protection alternatives of refrigerant have been put on the agenda, the research on the indirect cooling system using coolant helps to solve this problem. The coolant of indirect cooling system is a key factor to improve the performance of the indirect cooling refrigeration system. These kind of low temperature refrigeration devices often use less corrosive and low temperature solidification organic refrigerant. Such as the Glycol water solution.This paper focuses on the research of the performance and influence factors of indirect cooling system whose coolant is ethylene glycol through theory and experiment. The system adopts steam compression refrigeration cycle and Ethylene glycol solution of 50% as medium. In this paper, we design a small refrigerator using indirect cooling system and the cooling water circulating cooling system. At the same time we carried out the selection calculation and matching of the refrigeration system, air cooler and so on in the system. In this experiment, we change the different conditions by changing the way of the refrigerant flow. Record the data in the maintenance of different cold storage temperature conditions. And we measured the refrigerating capacity of the system through the air side heat balance method. We draw the curve of thermal parameters such as the refrigerating capacity of the system, performance parameters, and heat transfer temperature in different conditions through the analysis of the experimental data. At the same time, we analyze the main factors influencing the system performance.The results show that Amount of Refrigerant injection of indirect cooling refrigeration system is 536.383 g less then direct cooling refrigeration system and the environmental protection of the system is improved. System runs best in the-15 C temperature conditions. As for the cooler, the change of Coolant flow has a small effect of heat transfer temperature difference but has a big effect of evaporator. When the coolant flow is larger than 1100L/h the increase of evaporation temperature becomes slow, the difference of the temperature difference between the evaporator and the evaporator is small and energy consumption of pump increased. So the 1100L/h is the lowest energy consumption of this system. By comparing the direct cooling system and the indirect cooling system, we can see that we can improve the refrigeration capacity of the indirect cooling refrigeration system by reducing the leakage cooling loss, changing the heat transfer area, controlling the heat transfer temperature difference of cooler and evaporator and choosing the best coolant flow. If the indirect cooling system is flat with the direct cooling system, the advantages of the indirect cooling system can remedy the situation that the direct cooling system canā€™t satisfy.
