In recent years, due to air pollution, especially the fog and haze caused serious chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients increasing dramatically. COPD is a continuous airflow limitation disease. Studies have shown that pulmonary function testing can diagnose and assess patients with COPD, pulmonary function testing has been used as a diagnostic gold standard for assessment of COPD. However, the current COPD diagnosis rate remains low. Investigate the cause, because of the lower popularity of pulmonary function testing, and its quality control is a serious problem. In order to increase the popularity of pulmonary function testing, and we design a good accuracy and stability, simple operation, small size, low cost, portable spirometer PVF-100, and on this basis, also by using the spirometer inspection patients, collecting relevant data, a detailed study of lung function testing related to quality control standards. The main work and research results are as follows:(1) Selection and design of the spirometer flowmeter. Flowmeter is a core component of the spirometer, Through investigation and analysis in the paper, it has selected the differential pressure flowmeter as the design basis for the spirometer and on the basis, proposing a double differential pressure sensor based on dual balance design method throttling flowmeter, flowmeter which has solved the traditional narrow range, accuracy is not high enough shortcomings.(2) The spirometer system design. Spirometer system design includes exhalation signal acquisition module design and host testing software design. Microcontroller of the exhalation signal acquisition module chooses 51 series microcontroller C8051F040, microcontroller chip on the resource-rich, high degree of integration, including a data sampling and control systems needed to be close to all of the analog and digital peripherals that can meet system design requirements of the exhalation signal acquisition module. For the host testing software design part, Firstly, the main processes for software can be designed and then software of each module are described in detail.(3) The effectiveness and stability verification of the spirometer. By designing the experiment, checking the patient by using the spirometer to collect relevant data, and use statistical software SPSS13.0 for data analysis. The results show that:the effectiveness and stability of the spirometer are good, can be used for pulmonary function testing.(4) The quality control research of pulmonary function testing. Base on the spirometer in this paper, it mainly has studied the following quality control researches of pulmonary function testing:1.Expiratory volume extrapolation starting standards-related (EV) index of forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), peak expiratory flow (PEF) and peak expiratory flow time (PEFT) effect of parameters; 2. Two methods to calculate the parameter FEV1 and contradistinction; 3.Forced expiratory volume in six seconds (FEV6) and FVC spirometry parameters for comparative experiments; 4.Training and guiding patients to affect the quality of the pulmonary function testing.
