The city green space is an effective way to solve the city pollution of the environment, although it can’t solve it completely, but it can contend against with it. As a major aspect of city green space system, the botanical garden has the ecological benefits and comprehensive benefits that other green space systems can’t match because of its comprehensive functions. So it gets the city’s favor.The first chapter of this paper starts from the research background, it simply introduces the research purpose and significance. The second chapterit elaborates the research overview of the botanical gardens and the special categorized plants gardens at home and abroad, and we can understand the process and the change of its development through this chapter. it talks about the concept and function of botanical garden, we can have a general understanding of the botanical garden. Then it writes the definition and form of garden plants, and expounds the connections and differences between the garden and the special categorized plants garden. It provides a theoretical basis for the following design practice.Design practice use Quanzhou botanical garden as an example. The construction planning objectives of Quanzhou botanical garden is " the province first-class, the national well-known garden". It based on the popular science, professional technicality and ecology. And it also includes the landscape and participation. It is a comprehensive botanical garden that can provide natural and humanistic environment for tourists to relax and rest. Quanzhou botanical garden’s appearance was of great help for the improvement of Quanzhou’s environment and enhance the taste of the city.Design practice of the third chapter starts from the overall planning and design of Quanzhou botanical garden. It includes the current situation, site conditions, design principle and function.It is divided into two mountains, four water areas, four districts and fifteen gardens which are the special categorized plants gardens.Design practice is mainly about special categorized plants garden design goals, such as four seasons garden, Coral Park, aquatic park, palm garden,ornamental garden, arts garden, fabulous garden, vine garden, Taiwan garden, shade garden, rock garden, bamboo garden, tree garden, fruit garden and agricultural garden. The main design is about the core area of the garden, such as Four Seasons Garden, Coral Park, aquatic park, palm garden, ornamental garden, arts garden and fabulous garden. It includes the graphic design and plant configuration and especially talks about the planting design of the four seasons garden in detail. The rest of the gardens are about the conceptual design.Through the design practice of Quanzhou botanical garden, I hope to have a comprehensive understanding and improvement about the botanical garden planning and design.I also hope to provide some reference and help for the construction of botanical garden and the design of other green space systems.
