Switched reluctance drive (SRD) has a lot of advantages that include simple structure, low cost, high reliability, high efficiency, flexible control, etc. It has received widespread attention in the field of modern industrial control. And it has been used in a variety of fields of home appliances, electric vehicles, and aviation. In this paper, the design of speed governing system of a 5.5kW,12/8-pole switched reluctance motor has been completed. The main work is as follows:This paper introduces the history of switched reluctance drive and describes its operating principle, mathematical model as well as the performance characteristics. In addition, the hardware design of the main control circuit of SRD is introduced. Based on the master chip of DSP TMS320F2812, the interface circuits of DSP, current feedback circuit, position detection circuit, PWM output circuit and a control panel interface circuit have been designed.The power conversion circuit plays the role of providing power and switch in the SRD, and its two ends are connected to the power supply and the winding of each phase. The performance of power conversion circuit has a direct impact on the SRD. In this paper, the design of the power conversion circuit and drive circuit of the SRD is introduced in detail.Through the presentations and comparison of commonly used power conversion circuits, the asymmetric half-bridge power conversion circuit is adopted. Besides IGBT is selected as the main switching devices, and its parameters were calculated. QP12W05KS-37 is selected as the driver chip of IGBT drive circuit. Meanwhile the specific structure and component selection of IGBT snubber circuit, current detection circuit and power supply circuit were introduced.The overall framework of control panel is introduced. It includes four parts of programmable logic chip, digital display circuit, key control circuit and communication circuit. The programmable logic chip EPM7064AETC which is the core of control panel is described. According to the principle of digital display, the digital display circuit is designed. ICM7228A is selected as the driver chip and several display driving methods of ICM7228A are elaborated.According to three stages of pre-run inspection and preparation, no-load test and load test, the designed SRD is tested and debugged. On the process of test problems are solved gradually. Ultimately we get satisfying results, meanwhile the results confirm the correctness of the design of SRD.
