Warfare simulation has many advantages in military maneuver, such as economical, intuitional, real-time, and so on. Hence, it becomes an effective way that military countries carry on strategy, campaign, tactics simulation drill. As a basis of warfare simulation, the effect of virtual battlefield environment simulation directly affects reality, objectivity and validity of warfare simulation. this dissertation focuses on correlative problems of virtual battlefield environment simulation base on armored forces. Much effort is devoted to some key technologies, such as battlefield 3D terrain visualization, battlefield dynamic scence visualization and design of virtual battlefield environment simulation frame.Main effort of this dissertation include:(1)Review of related technology of virtual battlefield environment construcction. Starts with concept and elements of virtual battlefield environment, model construction technology,GPU render pipeline,levels fo detail and culling technology are studied in this thesis,which lay a foundation for virtual battlefield environment construction.(2)To improve 3D terrain visualization method. On the foundation of analyzing terrain modeling methods and terrain drawing method, this thesis comprehensive utilize advantages of delaunay triangulations in constructing terrain model and grids in rendering terrain model to complete large-scale terrain data visualization. concrete process are as follows:Firstly, scattered points data are constructed to accurate delaunay triangulations models. Secondly, delaunay triangulations are interposed to grids model. Finally, improved Geometry Clipmap algorithm is used to drawing terrain model.(3)To implemente virtual battlefield environment dynamic scence visualization. Dynamic sky scence is implemented through obtaining sky color texture. this method avoids many optical calculation and improves simulation efficiency. Several improved measures are used to implemente dynamic water scence, such as implementation for refelction and refaction, bump mapping and moving texture, fresnel blending.(4) To design virtual battlefield environment simulation frame. Base on analyzing characteristics and designing goal of virtual battlefield environment simulation, a frame structure is proposed to manage main controling module, resources management module, scene management module, rendering management module, input management module, time management module.
