With the increasingly serious environmental problems such as haze, people pay more attention to the development and use of clean energy. Wind energy as a renewable and clean energy has abundant reserves. The development and utilization of offshore wind resources is more considerable than land wind reserves. The development of offshore wind energy resources has become a hot spot in recent years. The electric equipment’s transportation and installation have to be completed by wind turbine installation vessel. At present, the offshore wind turbine installation vessel has developed to the third generation. Wind turbine catamaran with the integral hoisting method normally use mooring system and compensation system to ensure the stability of ship position. In this paper, the wind turbine catamaran is designed to use jack-up legs to ensure the operation. The large upper parts of the support’s frame and wind turbine system have strict requirements on ship motion in waves. Jack-up leg as the entire hull support is essential for the safety.In this paper, the following researches are done to the designed offshore jack-up wind turbine installation catamaran:The numerical calculation of wind turbine installation catamaran motions in waves under towing condition and the lifting condition are performed by using 3-D frequency domain hydrodynamic software HydroStar. The towing speed and leg length effect on ship motions in waves are discussed.Based on the existing design data of offshore jack-up wind turbine installation catamaran, the detail structures of jack-up legs are designed, and the load of the legs is calculated. FEM analysis on the leg structure under working condition, preloading condition, preloading and extracting condition and towing condition is made to ensure the safety, the reasonable design and the reliability of the jack-up leg.The detail structures of spudcan are designed. FEM analysis on the spudcan structures under preloading condition, eccentricity condition and working condition is made to ensure the safety, the reasonable design and the reliability of the spudcan.
