While laying stress on speeding up development of large and medium-sized hydropower stations small hydropower has also made remarkable achievements at the same time. At present, the research of small-sized runoff cascade hydropower stations dispatching is still relatively scarce compared with large and medium-sized cascade hydropower stations. The poor regulation capacity is one of the main features of runoff hydropower stations. Meanwhile, due to lack of effective information sharing, analysis, forecasting mechanism and dispatching plan, the comprehensive benefits of hydropower stations are severely restricted. Concerning of the runoff cascade hydropower stations optimal dispatching, the first important task is to perfect the optimization theory of hydropower dispatching and develop an advanced dispatching decision support system.By taking the 8 runoff hydropower stations which are located on the Longyan Tingjiang River of Fujian, as the research objects, this paper studies on the runoff cascade hydropower optimal dispatching and its application. By investigating the actual situations of Tingjiang River, the writer analyzes the existing problems of runoff cascade hydropower stations dispatching, and makes a relative systematic research on runoff cascade hydropower stations optimal dispatching.The main contributions of this paper are:(1) Describing the present situation, the existing problems and the research status of the runoff cascade hydropower stations dispatching; explaining the research target, significance and main contents; analyzing the demands and goals of runoff cascade hydropower stations optimal dispatching.(2) Putting forward an optimal scheme for runoff cascade hydropower stations dispatching. The scheme is based on the characteristics of runoff cascade hydropower stations and carried out by means of integrated management, dynamic control, active control, optimal control and so on. It will solve the main problems of runoff cascade hydropower stations dispatching and make the stations obtain optimum benefits.(3) Establishing an intelligent integrated hydropower dispatching system of Tingjiang River according to the actual situation. The system has many functions including automatic data processing, intelligent analysis, scientific dispatching, standardized management and so on, thus the purposes of unified command, whole process dynamic control, optimal dispatching, comprehensive benefits improvements have been achieved.
