With the rapid development of the construction industry, the applications of tower crane are growing year after year. Whereas,many unsafe incidents about tower crane which caused huge economic losses were found in our country frequently. Therefor, studying how to avoid the safety concerns of the crane operation,measuring the influencing factors of safety operation and realizing efficient operation of the tower crane are of great importance and significance.Firstly, this paper studied the structures and characteristics of the safety measuring tower crane systems. Combined the operating condition and national regulations of the tower crane, we designed the overall scheme of the efficient and safe operation tower crane system, including the functional design, the sensor selection, the hardware design, the efficient algorithm design and the software design.Then, this paper proceeds from the function analysis of the system,identified the required parameters, including the measurement of the wind speed, the temperature,the crane body slope angle and the crane arm deformation,thereupon the collected data of these sensors will be compared with the set value,and the controller will determine the possible dangers of the operation correspondingly.On the basis of safe operation, in order to achieve more efficient performance of the tower crane, we analyzed the speed regulation principles of the three-phase asynchronous motor, the property of the frequency transformer and its operation characteristics. With that, we put forward an efficient control strategy, which based on the weight of the cargo and the specific location of the crane arm. And the controller will change the accelerated velocity at the very beginning of the operation, the velocity of lifting motor will be changed correspondingly. The MATLAB simulation of AC motor, combined the fuzzy PID algorithm in the process of velocity adjustment guaranteed the perfect performance of motor velocity control. Compared with the traditional unchangeable accelerated velocity tower crane, this system exhibited much pleasant performance, such as the short operate time and high production efficiency.Finally, we finished the power module, the sensors and the system debugging, and the wind speed, the temperature, and the angle sensor achieved relatively accurate information in process of testing. The simulation results also demonstrated that the fuzzy PID algorithm applied in velocity adjustment control system can reach the requirements of the speed control. And therefor, the overall design of the system basically reached the requirements of the system.
