Recurring nightmare will lead to lack of sleep, spirit trance, seriously affected the normal work. There are currently not well modified and cure this disease, it is necessary to analyze and study the nightmare. The physical methods are used to alleviate the suffering nightmare. It is aimed at resolving the nightmare problems of humanity.Based on the clinical manifestations of nightmare occurs the cause of nightmare is analyzed, to find out the characteristic information of the nightmare. It is found that nightmare patients can control the respiration signal to let people around him to wake him up by comparing the various signals of nightmare occurred. Therefore, the spontaneous respiration signal is determined as the characteristic signal and to study it.It is found that there is a lot of noise around the respiratory signal, through the study of the emitted independent respiratory signal. In order to extract the useful breathing signal, the breathing rhythm extraction which is used to eliminate a lot of the noise signal from the nightmare signal was proposed. The respiratory rhythm extraction method is used to analyze the collected breathing signal’s respiratory rhythm and determine the scope of the respiratory rhythm signals.The different methods of analysis of the respiratory signal were compared, and then the short-time Fourier transform was used to analyze the collected characteristic signal spectrum and determine the frequency and amplitude characteristics of the signal range.Through the whole nightmare awakened system was studied, a way to collect and analyze characteristics of the signal to wake the patient’s instrument is designed. In the design of the nightmare awakened instrument, by comparing the analog circuit processing method, single-chip microcomputer method and the ARM microprocessor method, and the nightmare to wake the system overall design is conducted, so the ARM microprocessor is the ideal design scheme. According to the scheme, the hardware circuit and software design are designed tomeet the function of the instrument. The part of the hardware circuit includes the design of the signal acquisition circuitry, signal analysis and processing circuits, wake alarm circuit. The part of the software design aims mainly to the signal acquisition module, information analysis and processing module, wake alarm module and LCD display module. The C language is used for programming of these four modules, and the nightmare to wake instrument software design was achieved.Through the nightmare wake instrument’s debugging and verification, the patient can be waked in this way. The results show that the problems of nightmare are solved by the nightmare awakened instrument.
