As an important part of urban public space, environment good or bad of commercial pedestrian street can directly affects the quality of people’s activities. As a service infrastructure in commercial pedestrian street, seat plays an important role in city commercial pedestrian street. It is not only the necessary substance condition of diversified functions, but also affects the behavior of people in the pedestrian street. Excellent seat design can offer the pedestrian street with comfortable space, walking space unobstructed and in order, and resonate with users. And it is significant for the urban commercial pedestrian street.This paper aims at commercial pedestrian street seat as the research object. From the perspective of the user, this article analyzed people’s behavior activity and psychological demands in the commercial pedestrian street, considering the interactive relationship between seat and the surrounding environment, formed the basic research framework "people-seat-environment".Through literature review, practicing research, statistical analysis, summarized and other methods, I build up the whole thesis. In summary of the commercial pedestrian street of the visitors at home and abroad on the basis of related research, it stated city commercial pedestrian street environmental characteristics, people’s behavior psychology and seat function, feature, shape and material type and arrangement. This article chose Guan Yin Bridge Pedestrian Street, Yang Jiaping Pedestrian Street, Nan Ping Pedestrian Street in Chongqing City as samples. It used behavioral observation to study environment, human behavior, present situation and frequency of seat and applied questionnaire method to research population characteristics of pedestrian street, the seat use reasons, time, frequency and preferences, to find the common psychological needs of consumers.Finally, it analyzed the influence of city commercial pedestrian street seat design three factors "people-seat-environment". And also put forward the practical function, diversification, humanity and environment coordination principle, then came out the design strategies of the commercial pedestrian street seat, from seat itself, the psychology of people and the environment three aspects:First, it should meet the basic use function in the seat layout, shape design, material and color selection. Firstly, rational distribute seats according to the rules of people behavior in the commercial pedestrian street. Secondly, design seat from shape, modeling, material and color, based on the human scale.Second, to the consumption behavior of the modern consumption mode, put forward fashion, humanization and diversification strategies. To the increase of non-consumption behavior, in order to solve the problem of insufficient number of seats, put forward seat design concise, graft function and appropriate to reduce comfort. To the recreational behavior in commercial pedestrian street, should give priority to meet the rest, take into account the safety requirements, the private demand and communication needs, and put forward to meet the people’s psychological needs which should run through the whole process of seat design.Third, seat design should be coordinate with the surrounding natural environment, cultural environment, commercial pedestrian street environment to achieve unity abound change.Through the study of this article, to hope it can supply the theory in this field, and solve the existing problems of commercial pedestrian street seat, which provides the following construction planers, landscape designers, product designers seat with some reference.
