| Bridges with high pier and large slope are more common in Chongqing due to its geological conditions of locating in mountainous and valley areas. Common disease happens in these bridges such as displacement of the pier, beam and bearings. And the beam almost falls on the capping beam in the worst condition which seriously threats the bridge operation safety. Therefore, analyzing the deviation cause of the bridge pier means much to the slope bridge. Models for the pier deviation are established basing on MIDAS/Civil and ABAQUS in this paper and the main work is constructed as follows:â‘ Combining with the engineering example of Lijiawan Bridge, simplified model is established with MIDAS/Civil. The pier deviation results with normal bearing and tilt bearing under conventional loads are analyzed and compared basing on the model. And the stress analysis of the pier top with tilt bearing installation is completed, which preliminarily determines that tilt bearing installation is the main reason leading to the pier deviation of Lijiawan Bridge. Besides, the shearing damage processes of the bearing are studied and the influences of the bearing void to the bridge are analyzed.â‘¡The pier model with double columns is established using ABAQUS. And the influences of different pier height, pier diameter, pier section and bridge slope to the pier deviation and stress are analyzed and compared. Research shows that with the pier height changing, the pier deviation and stress increase. With the pier diameter increasing, the pier deviation and stress decrease. And when reducing the pier diameter, the calculated results increase faster than the reducing velocity of the pier diameter. The displacement of the pier top and the stress in the pier bottom are the best when the pier section is circle.â‘¢Bearings are optimized to improve the maximum allowable displacement and detail sizes of local steel parts are designed. In addition, the bearing installation method and attention points are put forward and suggestions for bridge design are made on the research results. |
