This paper conducts a successful feasibility study to EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconductive Tokamak) by using system identification technology and advanced control strategy. As we know, this may be the first time to adapt system identification technology to solve EAST control problem. The main research work includes as following:1. A control-oriented plasma shape model is built by using measurement data. Based on the principle of ISOFLUX, we choose classical EAST plasma shape (double null divertor. single null divertor) and use system identification technology to build a control-oriented plasma shape model with poloidal field currents as inputs and corresponding controlled parameters as outputs. The model is verified.2. "Plant-friendly" test signals are designed under constraints. In order to get a control-oriented model, this paper combines the fundamental needs of experiments and practical requirements and constraints, test signals are designed. Test could generate data to get a suitable model, while keeping the variation of signals and the operation of actuators within defined constraints, and test signals are verified through simulation. But it’s a pity that tests can’t be conducted because of the malfunction of EAST in experiment campaign.3. A Hx controller which can be tuned by operators is designed to improve control capacity. A Hx controller which can be tuned by operators is developed based on the identification model and comparisons are made between H∞ controller and PID controller, results show the good control quality of Hx controller.In the end, this paper is concluded with a summary and discussion of the perspective research.
