At present, most of the double curved arch bridges in china are constructed before china’s reform and opening and have been in the middle or late design life. Due to the constraints of the technical conditions then and increasing traffic now, there are many serious bridge diseases, even serious security risks, which need an urgent secure identification and reinforcement. To solve the above problems, the main research contents are as follows:(1) According to the current technical condition evaluation of double arch bridge and "Technical code of maintenance for city bridge" CJJ99-2003, its intact state is determined based BCI values.(2) Ansys software is used to establish the numerical models and analyze the reaction of the damage state double arch bridge under vehicle loads.(3) Considering a variety of diseases and insufficient bearing capacity of the bridge, the appropriate reinforcement programs are designed.(4) After reinforced, static load test and dynamic load test of the double arch bridge are conducted. According the test results, under the equivalent load of vehicle-20 level, elastic properties and overall work properties of the bridge are in good condition, the concrete strength and structural stiffness all can meet the requirements of relevant specification. Through this reinforcement, not only to repair its original disease and defects, but also greatly improve its bearing capacity, which basically meet the requirements of the current traffic, avoid the demolition and reconstruction, save money and construction period. The reinforcement project has obtained good economic and social benefits, so it can provide a certain reference for the other similar bridges.
