We human beings are stepping into the era of advanced electrification due to the rapiddevelopment of society and the fast pace of modernization. And thus the whole country ishighly connected with electricity, such as agriculture and industry. With the increase ofelectricity requirements, there are some certain negative effects to the grid, which mighteven broke it down. In order to ameliorate this situation and guarantee the stability ofpower system, we need to provide wattles power for the grid. Static SynchronousCompensator (STATCOM) could make up that required reactive power in time, hence offerhigh-quality electricity, which attracts more and more attention of areas of engineeringhome and abroad.This work mainly is designed according to STATCOM controlling system, based onartificial searching swarm algorithm (ASSA). It focused on STATCOM of voltage sourcetype, targeted the stability of direct current side voltage, and designed this dual-closed loopof voltage loop-current loop. Then we proposed strategies that ASSA optimizes PIDparameters.ASSA belongs to bionic smart optimization. It likes a group of soldiers, and theoptimization process being soldiers executing missions. It searches targets via executingrelevant orders and solving corresponding problems. In accordance to our tests, thisstrategy works well on panoramic searching capability and convergence.It describes particularly on the essential working principles and methods of ASSA,achieving parameter optimization quality test of simple PID controlling system and thatsystem contained in APFC circuit. The results showed that our methods work well. Besides,we designed STATCOM controlling circuit and established optimized math model viaanalyzing running principles of STATCOM. Also, we built STATCOM bionic model,compiling procedures of ASSA as well, using Matlab. According the results of research,optimized PI parameters could meet normal running of STATCOM, with great robustness.
