As our country’s economy constantly developing, environmental pollution caused bythe industrial wastes is also becoming more and more serious. Foam microcrystalline glassbrick is made from ceramic waste, fly ash, tailings and other industrial wastes. It’s a newtype of environmental protection materials with lightweight, high strength, thermalinsulation, recyclable, it can promote the sustainable development of human societyeffectively. The promotion and application of foam microcrystalline glass brick, conduciveto reduce the industrial waste pollution on the human environment, and build harmonyecological environment between man and nature, the research on the mechanical propertiesis foundation for its popularization and application, the compressive and shear strength offoam microcrystalline glass brick masonry are studied in this paper.Firstly, referring to the method and steps of “Test methods for wall bricks”(GB/T2542-2012), conducted the test of compressive strength and flexural strength on foammicrocrystalline glass brick. For foam microcrystalline glass bricks, the average value ofcompressive strength is9.61MPa, and the average value of flexural strength is2.88MPa,flexural compression ratio is0.3, slightly lower than that of fired perforated brick.Secondly, referring to the method and steps of “Standard for test method of basicmechanics properties of masonry”(GB/T50129-2011), compressive test on foammicrocrystalline glass brick masonry was conducted, failure characteristics, destructiveproperties, and intensity theory of the masonry were discussed, test results and normativevalues of fired common brick masonry under the same conditions were compared. Thedamage processes and failure forms of foam crystallized glass brick masonry were similarwith that of fired common brick masonry, test values of compressive strength were allgreater than normative values, the ratios were from1.18to1.86, recommend calculativeformula of compressive strength was provided. Through regression analysis of the trialdata, the rising section expression of stress-strain curves was put forward, in themeanwhile, a proposal calculate formula of elastic modulus was provided, and the elastic modulus of foam crystallized glass brick masonry were higher than normative values, theratios were from1.66to2.79, therefore, the ability to resist deformation was well, poisson’s ratio was basically consistent with that of fired common brick masonry. Finally, based on the shear test of foam microcrystalline glass bricks masonry, theshear destruction characteristics of foam microcrystalline glass bricks masonry wasanalyzed, the average values of shear strength were obtained, and a proposal calculativeformula of shear strength was provided. The shear strength of foam microcrystalline glassbricks masonry is lower than that of fired common brick masonry by28%, but it has thesame shear strength with autoclaved sand-lime brick masonry, so it meets the usingrequirement, can be widely applied in engineering.Experimental research shows that: the compressive strength of foam microcrystallineglass brick masonry is higher than that of fired common brick, the shear strength is thesame with that of autoclaved sand-lime brick, can be used as load-bearing wall materials.
