Only protecting the historic buildings in the urban process of renewal and development can we make the urban historical scene reappeared, stick out urban characteristics and improve the cultural connotation of the city.Tianjin, which has more than600years of history, a large part of her cultural value lies in the integration of traditional Chinese culture and Western civilization in one-hundred-year modern times. Tianjin historic architectures, as the carrier of urban cultural context, have also suffered from varying degrees of damage under the influence of natural disasters and nationwide urbanization process. That cries out for effective measures to protect and renovate the historic buildings, among which the most direct one is concentrating our efforts on project management of restoration engineering in historic buildings.At first, it expounds the background, purposes and Meaning of the research on project management of restoration engineering in historic buildings, and also presents the research status at home and abroad in this thesis.Then it summarizes the types and criterion of restoration engineering in historic buildings with coherent classification. Besides, it raises some negative phenomena and issues of these projects in this industry such as the mechanism of heritage conservation, contract signing, operating procedures and so on. presents the notion and methods of restoration engineering in historic buildings and then provides a summary description of project management of which from different stages and various angles.It elaborates the content of project management of restoration engineering in historic buildings which involves management models, progress of works, cost of construction project and so on. The core part of this paper takes the restoration engineering of Tianjin French Concession Chengde way4,6,8history in style as an example and provides you with a brief introduction of the project survey. We break the work into tasks by WBS and then use the Gantt chart and CPM to make the time parameters obtained by clarifying the logical relationship among each task. Thereout, the problems are found out and our project plans are readjusted and updated. The project management of restoration engineering in historic buildings is analyzed by using systemic and scientific methods.A study on an example of building in Tianjin French Concession can provide some references for similar works in the future.
