So far, the injection molding process setting is highly relayed on the techniquesand skills grasped by experienced engineers, advanced CAX methods and tools areonly applied in planning phase for product development. The thesis discussed theinjection molding process improvement on passenger car’s bumper of A company,focused on the improvement of process in series production after SOP.This paper introduced the concept, theory, basic principle and theimplementing steps of DOE method. Through brainstorming, the experiencedimprovement team selected potential factors and their boundary limits was confirmedfor further experiments using Minitab software. Then the DOE sorting, factorial andRSM experiment were carried out in sequence, and the theoretical model wasestablished using RSM method, improved process setting was used for on-site trial.The theoretical process setting combination was confirmed in small-batch and seriesproduction thereafter. New process setting was then standardized in the shop floor,this combination lowered the cost effectively and improved the production efficiency,this research enhanced the process ability on injection molding for A company.The experience and data obtained in this paper will support further application onadvanced simulation research for product development in early phase, furthermore,this paper provided experience for further application of DOE method ininjection-molding process.
