In recent decades, with the rapid economic growth and the continuousimprovement of people’s living standards, tourism has become a significant part ofpeople’s spiritual pursuit. From the beginning of the eighties of the last century the riseof religious tourism has become a new popular tourist market. People gradually beganto focus on the road to recovery culture, and cultural tourism is strongly sought afterChina’s cultural tourism market occupies an important position.However, in the development and construction of tourism landscape planning area,in order to pursue economic， geographical and cultural connotations areneglected,which has a strong impact on the local characteristics and variability; inpursuit of local interests, the overall tourism natural resources are ignored.Those withgeographical features of the natural resources have been destroyed and unreasonablyplanned; in order to pursue the design of " abstract ",design content and themes are notclear or there are even no content and themes. So, how to make geographical andcultural resources and cultural landscape planned and designed rationally, typically, witha theme and achieve sustainable development,will be the topic of this article.First of all, the concepts in this article on regional culture and landscape planningand design associated with the basic information for research are discussed andanalyzed, which clears the concepts and basic research data. Then the project designcases are classified comparative thinking of composition and cultural connotations,from which to explore the fusion of modern aesthetic thought and traditional culture, and highlight the spiritual connotation of regional cultural landscape.And then extractthe design of available cultural elements, to find the relevant points of geographical andcultural landscape planning and design. Finally, we summarize the geographical andcultural landscape planning and design to explore in the cases of projects of planningand design, and put forward their own ideas and achievements, which provides areference for the future design of geographical and cultural landscape planning.
