High strength steel composite D-type eccentrically braced frame is a kind ofnew`structural system. Its columns and beams are made of high strength steel,meanwhile its links are ordinary steel.This kind of structural combines theadventage of central braced frame whose ductility is high and frame constructionwhose seismic performance is strong as well as high strength steel whose strengthis high.9finite element models with different layers both of high strength steelcomposite D-type eccentrically braced frame (EBF) and ordinary steel D-type EBFwere established in ETABS and ABAQUS FEA software. According to thecomparation with ordinary eccentric braced frames. On that basis,6D-typeeccentrically braced frame with different length of link and5with different depth tothickness ratio of link are designed.According to the comparation of their hystereticbehavior,the best range and depth to thickness ratio of link are established. Itproved that: although the seismic performance of the high strength steel compositeD-type EBFs were a little poorer than that of their counterparts under the samedesign conditions. However, with the increasing of the number of layers, theseismic performance and energy dissipation of the high strength steel compositeD-type EBFs are becoming closer with that of the ordinary eccentric braced frames.Also the high strength steel composite D-type EBFs has higher bearing capacityand lower velocity of the decrease of ductility. It applies to structures with morelayers. At the mean time, with the decreasing of component section, the steelconsumption has been decreased greatly which leads to good economy benefit.Above all, the high strength steel composite D-type eccentrically braced frame(EBF) should be used when the layers of structures are between9and14highstrength steel of Q460are recommended. Shear type link are recommended to be used in High strength steel composite D-type eccentrically braced frame,whoselength should between1.2~1.6(Mp/Vp). Depth to thickness ratio of link shouldbetween23.5and37.6. The value should be fixed according to the condition of theconstruction.
