During the past few years, molten salt reactor, as one of the six candidates for thegeneration IV nuclear energy system, has withdrew a large amount of attention in thenuclear energy field. System code is a powerful tool for reactor design and plays avital role in thermal hydraulic design, operation strategy, reactor safety marginparameter selection, as well as the dynamic simulation and safety analysis of themolten salt cooling system. In current research phase, with both the lack of specificsystem simulation code and immature simulation techniques, modification of theexisting system code and validation with molten salt cooling system is a feasible wayto develop simulation code for molten salt reactor system.The HYSYS code is a process simulation environment designed to serve manyprocessing industries. It has a potential ability for the global simulation of the moltensalt cooling system as well as transient and accident safety analysis.The dissertation aims at modification, validation and application of the systemcode for molten salt reactor. which includes:1) The simulation and comparison of HTS circuit results. By comparing the dynamicexperiment data and simulation results, the application of HYSYS code in thermaldynamic simulation has been validated.2) The simulation of NNCL natural convection loop. The combination of detailedcalculation of both delta pressure of serpentine tubes with the usage bundle pipestructure of HYSYS code and heat-transfer coefficient by HTRI code simulation, areperformed and applied to the loop system simulation.3) The simulation of10MW molten salt cooled concept reactor. During the process ofHYSYS modeling, the fuel pebble are divided two parts, reactor core model has beenbuilt in the code. The reactor steady state is simulated by HYSYS, and the data wascompared with design results, a way that lets the molten salt reactor operation on the design condition was given. The process of scram, caused by fans shutdown, wassimulated, and some proposal were given for the loops operation.
