Shape memory alloy (SMA), which has shape memory effect of the alloy. It hasmany excellent properties, such as shape memory effect, super elastic and dampingcharacteristics, resistance characteristics, and thus widely used in aerospace, electronicmachinery, bridge construction, the automotive industry and other fields. Although theapplication of SMA is still starting in the field of civil engineering, But it has beenwidely noted by many scholars because of it’s excellent features in structure vibrationcontrol.It has developed a lot of SMA damping devices at present, but it is still in theexperimental stage, failing in practical application and needs to be studied further. Idesigned a kind of SMA damper energy consumption in this paper. The specific work isas following:1.Design a new kind of SMA damper. Establish mechanics calculation model for thenew SMA damper according to Graesser constitutive model,and simulate force-displacement hysteresis curve of the new SMA damper using MATLAB language,andanalysis performance change of the damper to wire layout change.2. Validate damping performance of SMA damper using time history analysis method.Establish analytical procedure based on the MATLAB language for a three-storyreinforced concrete frame with or without SMAdamper, and analysis them.3.Using the genetic algorithm to the new SMA damper location optimization design. Putforward a objective function and optimization variables.Objective function of Z withcontrolled structures under earthquake action, by the time history analysis of inter storydisplacement, acceleration and the corresponding number of layout of dampers withoutcontrol structure of three ratio of dimensionless linear combination.Analysis locationoptimization of the damper through a12story steel structure.
