Automotive suspension design which directly affect the car’s handling stability, ridecomfort and driving safety is a significative part of the car’s chassis development. Thispaper has showed the optimization of structural and mechanical parameters of the front andrear suspension in virtue of the suspension design theory, multi-body dynamics theory andmulti-objective optimization theory. Vehicle model is established by optimizedsuspension,and the simulation analysis of vehicle performance is made referred to nationalstandards. This paper has finished the follows works:(1)The parameter values of car’s front and rear suspension, spring file, damping fileand tire file are conformed by measuring the known model; a neutral file for the H beam ofrear suspension is generated by making modal analysis.(2)Wheel hop test is conducted after building kinematics simulation model of frontand rear suspension by ADAMS/Car. Then, the roll center height, frequency-biasing,parameters change of wheel alignment and wheel track are analyzed after simulation test.(3) The multi-objective optimization design of front suspension is completed byselecting reasonable design variables and objective functions,and by analyzing thesensitivity of steering wheel alignment parameter through the ADAMS/Insight. Afteroptimization,the gross value of change of the parameters of front wheel alignment isdecreased,suspension roll center height and tire wear are reduced which has improved thesteering wheel return ability and steering portability. The ideal frequency-biasing isobtained by optimizing spring stiffness and shock absorber damping ratio of front and rearsuspension, at meantime the car’s ride comfort is improved.(4)The resonant frequencies of some joints of the chassis to body are obtained byanalyzing vehicle vibration,which provide reference for analyzing ride; Through vehiclesimulation of fixed steering, it is discovered that the deviation of sideslip angle of frontwheel and rear wheel is plus, which can prove the car has understeer performance and goodhandling stability.This paper has put forward suggestions for improving the design of mini-electric cars,also can provide some reference for car design especially suspension design.
