As People’s attention to the child occupant safety problems, developed countries in the world have enacted relevant regulations and testing standards about child protection. In the existing laws and regulations of the dynamic testing technology requirements, more regulations are for the frontal or behind crash collision conditions. However, the latest traffic accident statistics show that the side impact occupant injury fatality rate reached more than30%, So the side impact safety of child restraint system should not be ignored, but there is no a unified international car side impact test method for child restraint system.The research is based on the analysis of European ISO/TRL, TUB, Australia AS1754and CREP car side impact test methods, and compares the differences between real vehicle side impact test method and sled test. Combined with the real condition of the traffic accidents, the test unit layout, impact Angle, impact pulse, and simulate the door plank parameters are determined. Through the typical child seat dynamic test, we get the distribution features of the dummy damage and evaluation index. Finally, we obtain two feasible side impact test methods for child restraint systems.This study is not only helpful for mastering the application technology of simulation collision sled test, but it helps to promote children’s side crash simulation test technology research, in addition, the research also has important theoretical significance and engineering practical value for multidisciplinary science of the experiment design and testing technology.
