Planetary gear transmission generally consists of several planetarygears to pass the load simultaneously, and there are many combinations ofinternal gear. With its light weight, small size large range of ratio options, planetary gear transmission has been widely used in many industries thatrequire heavy equipment, such as aerospace, shipbuilding submarines, windpower, heavy transportation. With the social development, planetary transmission equipment isincreasingly used in civilian and military areas. But when working underhigh-speed and heavy-duty environment for a long period, its life will begreatly reduced, and will be accompanied by a high incidence of failure. Therefore, the demand to achieve prompt diagnosis has been increasinglyurgent. However, failure mechanism of planetary transmission is still notrich enough, so the deep study is of great practical significance.Taking elastic deformation of planetary systems in the process ofmovement into account, through the introduction of flexible body in rigidbody dynamics model, this paper establish a rigid coupling model and startwith the single herringbone gears to study the difference of dynamicssimulation results between normal and broken teeth fault under rigidcoupling models. Based on the simulation results, this paper summarizes thefault feature of broken teeth failure and lays the foundation to further studyon planetary systems by introducing flexible body into rigid couplingsimulation models.Last, apply the rigid coupling simulation to the first stage planetarytransmission model and planetary transmission model with broken teethfailure by introducing flexible body into rigid coupling simulation models, analyze and compare the measured vibration signals, sum up the sun gear failure characteristics of broken teeth.
