Ready-mixed mortar is a new building material. Due to its superiority, theready-mixed mortar will be bound to replace ordinary mortar in the constructionindustry. Due to the characteristics of ready-mixed mortars, as well as the externalfactors, cracks will appear in ready-mixed mortars, which will affect the regularservice of buildings. Therefore, the study on the cracking of ready-mixed mortar isvery important. However, there is not a uniform testing method or an evaluationsystem for the cracking resistance of mortar available at home and abroad now.The traditional ring testing equipment has some obvious shortcomings. Forexample, the mortar ring cannot crack, or cracks slowly, the cracks of mortar ringsare scattered and tiny, and are difficult to observe.In this paper, the experimental device, namely a new type restrained ringwith a partition, is used. It can be used to predict cracking ages and tendency ofready-mixed mortar conveniently and rapidly. In addition, the cracking resistantperformance evaluation of the different ready-mixed mortar can be used inengineering practice. Three aspects of research results are concluded as follows:1. Through size selection experiments, the design of the new test device,namely the restrained shrinkage ring, is completed, including the partitionparameters and test methods. The thickness and height of determined rectangularpartition are2mm and50mm respectively.2. A numerical simulation is proceeded based established models. Thecomparison of calculated results with experimental results verifies thereasonability of the experiment and the accuracy of the numerical simulation.3. By comparative tests, the cracking resistant behavior of ready-mixedmortars has been investigated, and five parameters:K1、t1、Ft、D and F7, which canevaluate the cracking resistant behavior of ready-mixed mortars, are proposed, andan evaluation system of cracking resistance of ready-mixed mortars has beenestablished.
