| Though the Venice Biennale of Architecture only has a short history of a littlemore than thirty years, it has already become the most magnificent display platformfor architecture in the world. Numerous world famous architects and millions ofvisitors have made the Venice Biennale of Architecture the most top architecturalpageant. The exhibition content represents the forefront of architectural development,and is an indicator of today’s architectural progress.This article has three main parts, which research the development process, themeselection and theme presentation of the Venice Biennale of Architecture.The first part of this article highlights the changing trend of the Venice Biennaleof Architecture and analyzes the different stages of its development, which shows theshift of the perspective. In the second part, this paper researches the theme selectionof the Venice Biennale of Architecture.With the comparison and interpretation of thesuccessive exhibitions of and after the7th Venice Biennale of Architecture, which isits start of the mature stage, this article shows the general directions of the themeselection and summarizes the approaches and newest achievements of thearchitectural researches demonstrated by the exhibition. In the third part, this articleanalyzes the methods of theme presentation of the Venice Biennale of Architecture.With the main purpose of information dissemination, the Venice Biennale ofArchitecture has its unique contradictions as a cultural activity. Compared with otherkinds of exhibitions, this uniqueness gives theme presentation a more significant rolein architectural exhibition plan. Through the deep analysis of the cases on each VeniceBiennale of Architecture, especially after the7th Venice Biennale of Architecture, thisarticle classifies the exhibition forms and methods adopted by the architecturalexhibition, which provides strong references for architects to participate in anexhibition as well as exhibition design and organization. |
