Unsteady seepage is a common and complicated problem in the field of waterconservancy engineering. Many scholars devoted to the research how to establish areasonable and effective seepage mathematical model and how to work out thelocation of seepage free surface and seepage parameters quickly and efficiently.Because of the complexity of the unsteady seepage problem, how to use the numericalcalculation method for accurate simulation is a process need to constantly improve. In this thesis, several main methods of seepage free surface are collected and itsadvantages and disadvantages are reviewed on the basis of former researchachievements. An improved method witch can more truly simulate the unsaturatedseepage field is put forward on the basis of variable seepage coefficient method.Unsteady seepage problems and anti-seepage optimization of an artificial islandin Fujian Province are researched on the basis of the basic theory of seepage and thebasic principle of finite element method. Specific content as follows:The numerical simulation of the unsteady seepage is conducted on basis ofANSYS. Due to the particularity of the engineering example, there is a large numberof flow loss in the process of the seepage witch lead to irregular change of the waterlevel. It’s able to disperse and subdivide the calculating time domain to take theinfluence of variation of water level caused by seepage flow for the seepage analysisinto account based on the DO loop statement of APDL (ANSYS Parametric DesignLanguage). In consideration of the functional requirements and engineering safety, theoptimization research on anti-seepage is conducted. An anti-seepage project of theartificial island is determined by calculation of unsteady seepage. Taking seepageflow and seepage gradient as control condition as well as taking the length ofanti-seepage measures as variable, it’s able to optimize the anti-seepage project bywriting APDL command statements, witch has a certain guiding significance onengineering construction.
