Abstract/Summary:
As one of the most important properties of soft soils, the time’s effect of the soilmass’s deformation has a significant influence to the mechanics property of soil. Thedeformation of the soil always includes consolidation and creep process which iscoupled processes of consolidation-creep.According to the research trends of the home and abroad and the engineeringpractice. On the basis of summarizing the predecessors’ research results, this paperstudied on the coupled behaviors of consolidation and creep of dredger soft soil inTianjin Binhai New Area. The main conclusions consist of:Based on generalizing and summarizing the limitations of the existing divisionmethod of the primary-secondary consolidation, a new method according to the strainrate and strain curve to differentiate the primary and secondary consolidation wasfounded. The effects of sample height, drainage condition, load level and preloadingcondition on the division of the primary-secondary consolidation was analyzed. The void ratio and its variation accounted for the proportion of total variationincreases as the increase of moisture content. The secondary consolidation coefficientis first increases as the load is applied and then decreases, final tend towards stability. The greater the moisture content, the bigger the peak value of the secondaryconsolidation coefficient. When the moisture content is above36.6%, the curves ofthe consolidation coefficient increase with the consolidation pressure roughly presentthe reverse "S" type. Based on the results, a corrective one dimensional hyperboliccompression model considering the moisture content has been proposed. The e-lgp curves of different sample heights are a set of parallel curves, with theload increase, the void ratio present a non-linear variation. With the increase ofsample height, the stable strain value become smaller and the secondary consolidationcoefficient get larger.,the coefficient of consolidation remained a high level andchanged litter when the stress less than the structural yield pressure but recededconsiderably when the stress exceeds the structural yield pressure and finally tendedto be stable. Under the same load lever, the coefficient of consolidation decreases withincreasing of sample height. On the basis of Mitchell’ strain rate and time doublelogarithmic curve, a one-dimensional consolidation strain experience model wasproposed.
