Tapered roller bearings have been widely used in auto industry, mining machinery,etc. Their precision level has a crucial influence on the performance of equipments.Rotation flexibility, as an important quality index for tapered roller bearings, affects theirgeometrical rotation accuracy, vibration, noise and life. Nowadays, bearings’ rotationflexibility is usually tested manually and the result is not reliable. This thesis researches onthe technology of parametrical online measurement of rotation flexibility for tapered rollerbearings.The natural revolution drop speed of a bearing’s load plate is taken as the parameterto evaluate the bearing’s rotation flexibility. The measuring method of the parameter isas follows. Firstly, the load plate is pushed to a certain revolving rate and then canceledthe external driving force,and its revolving rate drop naturally. In the meanwhile, a fluteddisc-photoelectric switch speed measuring device is used to measure the load plate’sinstantaneous revolution speed. Secondly, part of the speed information is intercepted, andthe least square method is taken to fit a straight with the revolution speed as a verticalcoordinate and the corresponding moments as a horizontal coordinate,and the slope of thestraight line equals the parameter k.The rotation flexibility measurement system consists of a mechanical system and ameasurement&control system. The mechanical system includes a body frame, apositioning mechanism, a measurement mechanism and a selection mechanism. Thereinto,the positioning system is used to locate the bearing, and the measurement mechanism isused to actualize movements such as loading, power separation and union according to themeasurement principle. The measurement&control system is based on virtual instrumentand takes industrial personal computer (IPC) as its platform to processes, analyzes, storesand displays the collected signal. The control module applies programmable logiccontroller (PLC) to manage the actions of executive devices. Interfacing technology isused to achieve the communication between PLC and IPC. PLC informs IPC to beginsampling with a start signal. IPC collects and analyzes the signal to directs the selectionmovements according to the calculation result. Experiments was carried out with the developed rotation flexibility measurementsystem. Results indicate that the measurement accuracy of the parameter k is1.79, and themeasurement efficiency is15s/set. The system achieved parameterized measurement ofrotation flexibility for tapered roller bearings.
