With the development of economy, the conventional treatment technology cannot satisfy the requirement of the new water quality standards, so it is a matter ofgreat urgency to use advanced treatment technology to treat the raw water of A townin order to ensure the safety of users. Using the A town reservoir water sources asthe research objects; this paper was mainly to research the pollutants’ removalcharacteristics by ozone-activated carbon.Pre-ozonation can improve the effect of coagulation, the water turbidity hadthe trend of decreases after rising with the increase of ozone dosing quantity, andthe optimal additive quantity was0.8mg/L if use pre-ozonation to enhance thecoagulation efficiency. The removal rate change of organic matter had been studiedunder different ozone dosing, the results shown that: pre-oxidation could improveorganic matter removal in conventional treatment process, when ozone dosingquantity was0.8mg/L, the CODMnand TOC removal rate were maximum, reachedto27.49%and40.00%respectively. And the UV254removal rate could reach to40.74%when ozone dosing was1.3mg/L. The optimal dosing for pre-ozonationwas0.8mg/LThe activated carbon’s iodine value and methylene value, adsorption rate,static adsorption capacity and adsorption isotherm were used as the targets tocompare the adsorption properties of activated carbon, and the most suitableactivated carbon species for treat the target water was selected. Ozone dosing ratioand dosing quantity had been researched; the result showed that the turbidity andCODMnremoval rate was45.16%and59.83%respectively with the ozone optimaldosing ratio was7:4:4, and the turbidity and organic matter removal effect were bestas the ozone dosing quantity was1.8mg/L. The residence time and carbon layerthickness of activated carbon process was also studied; the optimal residence timewas16min, and the pollutants have been almost removed when carbon layerthickness was180cm to210cm.The raw water’s turbidity, organic matter, disinfection by-product precursorsand the taste and odor can be effectively removed by ozone-activated carbon. Aftertreatment, the system’s average removal rate of effluent turbidity was95.96%, theremnant CODMnwas1.02mg/L, the average removal rate of UV254was97.82%,and the average removal rate of TOC was81.53%. And the nitrite removal rate canbe maintained at about98.49%. Activated carbon filter effluent THMFP was45.75μg/L while the removal rate was37.02%, and the effluent2-MIBconcentration was0.6×10-5mg/L which below the national standard of1.0×10-5mg/L, the2-MIB removal rate was76.00%.If the reconstruction project accomplished, the pure water can meet therequirements of new drinking water quality standards, ensure the water safety of Atown’s users, promote the economic development in A town, and provide basicguarantee for the sustainable development of A town.
