In the development of the marginal fields, mat-supported jack-up platform is asort of important equipment. The mat-supported jack-up platform with oil storagefunction is the structure with two floating bodies in both top and bottom which maymake its hydrodynamic performance in elevating operation process be totallydifferent from the previous platform. For this reason, research is conducted on thissubject in this work. For the study of the hydrodynamic performance in elevating operation processof the mat-supported jack-up platform, model experiment and numerical analysis arecarried in this work. Model experiment include the roll and heave decay tests in stillwater and motion tests in regular waves at zero speed beam sea conditions. In tests, the natural periods, motion-damping and displacement-time curves of roll and heaveare measured and analyzed. On this basis, the finite element model of the platform isbuilt by using SESAM/GeniE software. Then the hydrodynamic responses arecalculated by using SESAM/Wadam software, and the hydrodynamic parameters andthe amplitudes of motion responses are obtained and analyzed. After the experiment and calculating, the results of the model experiment andnumerical analysis are compared, including the hydrodynamic parameters and theamplitudes of motion responses. The differences of the results are analyzed. On thisbasis, the results of the software are revised by reference to the experiment. Themaximum value of displacements in short-term of the platform in its elevatingoperation process is reported. Finally, the suggested sea state for elevating progressis given. The results in this work provides help and reference for the research of thestructure with two floating bodies in both top and bottom and are meaningful to theexploration of oil in marginal fields for our country.
