Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has caused wide concern for itssimple structure, high energy density, and reliable operation. And its main controlmethod is vector control. However, vector control requires real-time speed andposition information, because it is related to the stability of the control system.Although position sensor can accurately obtain the position of the rotor, these sensorsincrease the volume of the control system. At the same time, the sensor sensitivity tothe environment will limit the accuracy of the system. So a kind of effectivesensorless speed and position identification method becomes an important topic.The sliding mode observer algorithm is simple and easy to projectimplementation. And the sliding mode observer based on variable structure becomesan important solution for permanent magnet motor sensorless speed and positionestimation. To solve chattering problem in conventional sliding mode observer, we putforward a new control algorithm, which can smooth the discontinuous control at theboundary layer of switch function. Meanwhile, phase lock loop (PLL) has been usedto estimate the rotor position and speed of the motor which solve the phase lagproblem caused by the low pass filter (LPF). Finally, this paper uses multi-innovationleast squares identifies stator resistance to get a more accurate motor model. In orderto verify the effectiveness of the improved algorithm, this paper builds a vectorcontrol system in MATLAB/Simulink simulation environment. A number ofexperiments are simulated for the improved method. The paper complete softwaredevelopment through DSP system-level integrated development environment based onMATLAB. Finally, the experiments have been done on the platform based on TITMS320F2812and the results will display in computer.The simulation and experimental results prove the effectiveness of the improvedalgorithm in tracking the actual speed and position.
