Cable of cable-stayed bridge has a light weight, large flexibility, smalldamp and low natural frequency, which leads to produce various kinds ofharmful vibration easily under external load. This article uses themagnetostrictive actuators on cable vibration active and semi-active controlstudy. The giant magnetostrictive actuator based on giant magnetostrictivematerial as the driving element, which has the advantages of compact structure,large output, output power, rapid response, etc. This subject is funded by theNational Natural Science Foundation——The Magnetostrictive ActuatorCable-stayed Active Control Experimental and Theoretical Study (51078142).The force-magnetic model of magnetostrictive actuator and the cable activeand semi-active vibration control with the magnetostrictive actuator have beencarried out. The following is the main content of this paper.(1) This paper introduces the cable vibration active and semi-active controltheory, discusses the structural vibration control theory, has established thecable active control equations of motion, solves the equation with the classicallinear optimal control algorithm; Analyzed the LQR control、 Clipped-LQRcontrol and Bang-Bang control principles, and according to the different controlalgorithms for the solution of the control equation of the stay cable, providestheoretical basis for vibration experiment.(2) This paper introduces the main performance research of giantmagnetostrictive actuator, analyzes the structure of the homemade actuator andthe design of the precompression and bias magnetic field. We have a mechanicalproperties test on the giant magnetostrictive actuators respectively conductedwith or without biased magnetic field after improve magnetization, draw amagnetostrictive actuator force and magnetic relation function.(3) Using Matlab software numerical simulation analysis on theexperimental model of cable, used three different control strategies (LQR control、 Clipped-LQR control and Bang-Bang control), in three different loadcondition (free vibration, simple harmonic excitation, the random excitation),have a cable experiment with vibration control simulation analysis, proved itsfeasibility.(4) An experimental model of cable vibration control system was designed,introduced the main experimental apparatus、 the principle of the experimentaland the control program, have a cable active、semi-active control on condition ofdifferent load, assess the control system of cable vibration damping effect underthe corresponding control algorithm.
