As an important part of automobile, transmission directly affects the automotivepower and economy, operating portability and reliability, smooth running, ridingcomfort. Though traditional mechanical transmission exists lots of shortcomings,such as big shifting shock, operation inconvenience, and large occupation space, it isstill widely used in modern vehicle due to low cost, high efficiency, simple processadvantage.Science and technology promote the development of computer technology.Previously transmission design depends on experience of forefathers, now someprofessional software is used to design transmission. Two type of special softwareRomax and MASTA is widely used in the world in the transmission field.Transmissions can be optional, designed, developed and manufactured in twosoftware. In this paper, use software Romax to make modeling, simulation andoptimization on mechanical transmission of small cars. Consult relevant books andliterature, based on the experience, ideas and research achievement of thepredecessors. Find out how to make modeling and simulation analysis oftransmission in software Romax. This way has great engineering value for the futuredesign of mechanical transmission, shorten the development cycle, and greatlyimprove the work efficiency.This paper sees mechanical transmission of small cars as research object. Withrelevant theoretical knowledge and practical ability of transmission development,make design, modeling, simulation analysis and optimization on transmission.In this paper, the design and development work of transmission mainly includesthe following aspects.(1) Determine the overall design of mechanical transmission, including thearrangement of gears, arrangement of shafts and shift operation mechanism.(2) According to the basic parameters of the vehicle, determine the transmissionratio of the gear in consideration of the premise to meet the power and economy ofthe automobile(3) Consult large amounts of relevant data, according to some previous empirical formula to determine the basic parameters of the transmission main parts.(4) Make modeling and simulation on mechanical transmission in softwareRomax. Analog actual working condition of transmission, and ensure the safety ofthe main parts during its working period.(5) Use gear optimization module in Romax to optimize gear, and makesimulation analysis after gear optimization. Compared with the result of theoptimization before, examine the optimizing effects.Currently professional software is used in transmission design more and morewidely. Learn how to analyze the influence of each parameter on the transmissionperformance in software. This is the focus of research in future. Use the professionalsoftware Romax to make modeling of transmission. Simulated analysis is carried outon the transmission in the actual working condition.
