As the rapid development of automobile manufacturing and growth of vehiclepopulation, resources and environment are facing tough challenges in our country, sustainable development of the automotive industry is also constrained. Electricvehicles seem to be an important way to protect our environment and energy security. However, the problems that remain for modern EV are limitations. Extended-RangeElectric Vehicle which can extend range is most likely to be the most promising newautomotive products. The research is relying on one cooperation program about city buses in anenterprise. The paper is based on ZK6105HNG2parameters and China city bustypical operating conditions. The method of parameter match is introduced. The maincomponents for the powertrain are selected. According to performance targets andstructure characteristics of the vehicle, through the relevant theories and formulas, some important parameters are decided.Energy flow patterns and control objectives are identified. According to thestructure of vehicle control system and results of parameter match, the function ofvehicle control system is defined. Based on that, thermostat control strategy isselected as the suitable range extender control strategy.ADVISOR2002is described in detail. Based on that, modes of vehicle, parts, power bus and control strategy are built. In order to verify the correctness ofparameter match and control strategy, the vehicle is simulated and analyzed on thebasis of ADVISOR.Optimization problem is described. The algorithm NSGA-II is used in theoptimization design, with the objective functions of minimizing energy loss. Duringthe optimization process, ADVISOR is used to analyze the vehicle performance. Thesimulation results show that vehicle efficiency is improved effectively and the energyloss decreases11%without the decrease of dynamic performance.
